McKinney
Avenue Trolley Take a nostalgic ride through the arts district to the Dallas
Museum of Art and back to the barn. Round trip with clanging bells and red velvet seats
will take about 30 minutes while taking you back to another era. Tours are available and
explain what makes the trolley work as well as the history of electric transit. Call for
tour times. Farmer's Market Four
blocks of downtown Dallas devoted to fruits, vegetables, honey, nuts, plants, flowers,
cheese, etc. A site to see as well as an excellent weekly habit for a balanced diet. In
addition to developing good diet habits, your family will learn to check for produce
quality and ripeness as well as learning when certain produce is harvested. It is a good
idea to ask for prices before looking too interested here, as some vendors' prices seem to
fluctuate by the expression on your face. Various vendors offer a taste and you can easily
eat a meal of fruit as you walk. Not all of the vendors grow their own produce, but some
are "real" farmers. Also check out the gourmet food section. Reunion Tower Observation Deck
Spectacular views of Dallas, especially at night from this 50-story tower at the edge
of downtown Dallas. Observation deck is free with receipt from the moderately
expensive-to-expensive and revolving restaurant. |
