Common Areas in Dallas-Fort Worth Ecovillages/Cohousing
Ecovillage, Cohousing, Intentional Community

Why do we have a survey?

The survey is a research tool that is compiled, then guides us in:
1. Planning meeting locations.
2. Seeking land for future ecovillages.
3. Knowing what people seek in their own personal lives and ideal communities.

It also adds you to our mailing list for invitations to our meetings and new information regarding ecovillage/cohousing in the DFW area.

Please fill out the survey here. It is quickly done. Thank you.

Home

The common house is not the only common area in a cohousing community.

Other common area are:

1. Community garden. Read more.

2. Parking area which could include an area for minor automobile repairs. Read more.

3. Workshop area.

4. Pond, creek, or other body of water. This is more practical when land is plentiful and cheap or when the cohousing community is actually part of an ecovillage.

5. Play areas for kids

6. Outdoor living areas such as decks, patios, and porches.

7. Walking and open areas

8. Parking for community vehicles such as a community truck or van. Also storage for personal bicycles.

9. Individual storage areas. Read more.

10. A meditation area.

Do you notice that something is missing from the list of common areas?

The swimming pools and recreation areas of most large suburban neighborhoods are rarely important to cohousing communities, often because of cost. Yet they may be included in an ecovillage or group of cohousing communities.
