Cohousing and Ecovillage Meetings in Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
Dallas-Fort Worth Area

Why do we have a survey?

The survey is a research tool that is compiled, then guides us in:
1. Planning meeting locations.
2. Seeking land for future ecovillages.
3. Knowing what people seek in their own personal lives and ideal communities.

It also adds you to our mailing list for invitations to our meetings and new information regarding ecovillage/cohousing in the DFW area.

Please fill out the survey here. It is quickly done. Thank you.

We have four types of meetings: Introductory Meetings, Social Meetings, Skilling or Reskilling Meetings, and Focus Meetings.

Introductory Meetings: Introductory meetings include general information about cohousing and urban ecovillages, normally followed by a social time, often with food, and sometimes followed by a speaker of interest to the group. Staying for social time or a speaker is always optional, of course.

Who comes? Anyone interested in ecovillages or ecohousing in Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Time: Many meetings start in late afternoon, between 4 and 5 pm, and are finished in time for people to go about their Saturday night fun. A few are held during the week. Newcomers are always welcome.

Introductory meetings cover:

1. The basics of ecovillages or ecohousing.
2. Energy-efficient villages
3. Saving money on construction and energy
4. The ins and outs of forming community, including privacy and friendship.
5. What's happening with ecohousing and ecovillages in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

A question and answer period is included.

Where are meetings?  Meetings are held at various DFW locations. It is easier to find out locations if you fill out our (very short) survey here. Filling out the survey puts you on our e-mailing list for these and future meetings.

Social Meetings: Social meetings are just that: gatherings from potlucks to picnics to festivals where you can enjoy yourself, meet potential future neighbors, and make new friends. They are normally held on the week-end and locations vary.

Skilling  or Reskilling Meetings: There are many skills we need to acquire or reacquire before we are self-sufficient. Some of these skills can be attained by attending the classes available in and around DFW. We will do that as often as possible. In addition, from  time-to-time, we will have meetings with authorities who speak on a topic or skill of interest to ecovillagers.

Focus or Business Meetings: As ecovillage locations are set up, focus or business meetings are for future residents to start making decisions about their own community. Newcomers are welcome at these meetings, too, but cannot vote.

Please share your ideas by filling out a quick form here.
