research tool that is compiled, then guides us in:
1. Planning meeting locations.
2. Seeking land for future ecovillages.
3. Knowing what people seek in their own personal lives and ideal
communities.
It also adds you to our mailing list for information regarding ecovillage/cohousing in the DFW area and invitations to our meetings.

Origins Cohousing, Ecohousing, How Did It Start?
Cohousing started as a few individuals braving years of meetings to get a community built. Most were never built and many of those brave individuals lost much money and time in the process.
Cohousing has preceded in levels or steps in the United States.
The first step was the Danish Cohousing and its eventual spread to Europe.
The second step was the spread to the United States. In the first 13 years since that happened, less than 100 cohousing communities have actually been built.
That is a discouraging track record but...
The third level is underway which promises great success.
It is developer-driven cohousing and the combination of several cohousing communities into an ecovillage.
This adds money, expertise, economy of scale, and determination to the mix which is what has been needed to get cohousing off the ground in the United States.
