Although the financial reasons for installing renewable energy vary, depending upon electricity retailers, governments, and electric delivery companies, the most common incentives include:
  • Tax credits which are available from the government.
  • Rebates and financial incentives from electric delivery companies.
  • The ability to reduce and stabilize your energy costs.
  • Increased property values in most instances.
  • Providing backup power during an utility outage, if you have battery storage or a generator.
  • Generating credit on your electricity bill with a grid-tied system by sending electricity back to the utility company, also known as net metering, which again, depends on your electricity retailer in Texas.
