One of the best ways to understand electricity is to think of it as water flowing through a garden hose.

It flows through the hose at a certain rate. As we open the faucet, it flows faster; as we close the faucet, it flows slower

Electricity also flows at different rates, depending on the load or how much you are drawing at any one time.

The flow of electricity is measured in amps or amperes--the higher the amperage, the higher the flow.

Voltage is equivalent to water pressure in the hose. In a battery system high voltage indicates an abundance of power stored in the batteries.

Wattage is a measure of power and electronics are all rated by wattage. It is determined by multiplying the amps a panel produces by the volts: W= a x v.
