Due to a sizable monthly connection or minimum charge by Atmos in the North Texas area, it is not expedient for home or business owners of natural gas hot water systems to replace them with solar hot water systems. The monthly charge (12 months of the year) by Atmos is so high that you should apply it to heating water.

Too bad for those who heat water with natural gas but remember, this is not true for those who heat with propane.

Why?

Propane users do not have this high monthly charge--they are only charged for the energy they actually use..

However, these natural gas owners (and tenants) can save some money with conservation, particularly during the winter months when the high monthly charge could be applied to natural gas heating. And energy can be saved all year with conservation.
