Award-winning, EEBA Master Builder Jim Sargent is a nationally-recognized leader in healthy, energy-efficient, and good passive solar   residential construction. Sargent was named 2006 Energy Value Housing Award National Builder of the Year by the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Association of Home Builders (NAhb) Research Center. He was also recognized at the NAHB Green Builder Conference as builder of the Best Green Concept Home in America.

As a noted expert in the construction of energy-efficient homes, Jim Sargent consults on not only construction of new green homes but also the green renovation of existing homes. 

A pioneer of energy-efficient home building in Texas, Jim Sargent decided over thirty years ago that energy-efficient construction was the only responsible way to build. 

In the 1980s he started monitoring and  analyzing his homes and their energy consumption, double metering some homes to accurately measure the heating and cooling power consumption. He was able to build homes out of fairly conventional materials, but with more attention to detail, and cut utility bills by 50% to 70% over the standard construction practices in the area. His award winning Zero Energy Home in Frisco, Texas, is the culmination of 30 years of knowledge and dedication to building science.

Jim Sargent is available to consult with individual home owners, architects, developers, and other builders on what works and what does not work for the best total energy-efficiency in homes as well as healthy air quality within the home.
