The green eyes of the metroplex are on
Dallas.
A green-building resolution passed the Dallas City Council October 25, 2007. Dallas will require that all new homes, office towers, stores, schools, industrial facilities and warehouses built within the city meet "green building" standards. The City of Dallas staff will work with industry representatives to develop sustainability requirements. This task force is directed to report back to the City Council on March 12, 2008, with recommendations for standards and implementation. Dallas is the first city in North Texas to make such a green move although Dallas has never been known for being particularly green-friendly. This is good news for the metroplex: As goes Dallas, so eventually will many of its suburbs. Contact Terry Jensen at 972 251-1532 or 817 545-0140. |
