Humidity and Health

Humid indoor air makes some people sneeze, cough, and even itch.

How can microscopic water molecules make you itch or cough?

Those symptoms arise when people have allergic reactions to the organisms that thrive in humidity, such as mold and dust mites

These organisms are not just in bathrooms and kitchens. They are on table surfaces, even in carpet, pillows, and mattresses.

Home Maintenance

High humidity in a home often causes decay, particularly when water condenses inside the walls. Maybe that decay is not obvious on the outside, while your home is rotting away on the inside.

Bugs are always looking for water. Condensation provides the bugs with the water they need  In hot areas like DFW, high humidity draws pests such as termites and cockroaches.

Excess humidity can even produce enough condensation to stain ceilings and walls and cause flaking paint and peeling wallpaper, although that is less likely in DFW than in an area like Houston.
