Humans and homes are very sensitive to humidity and moisture. The ideal humidity level for homes is 45%.

To achieve that ideal humidity in summer and thus increase your health and comfort while reducing your power usage:

·         First remove moisture where it is most often found--in the bathroom, laundry, and kitchen with proper venting and exhaust systems.

·         Cover the ground in your crawl space with a ground-moisture barrier.

·         Avoid drying clothes on an indoor clothesline.

You can track your home's humidity with an inexpensive digital hygrometer that shows both the temperature and the humidity. Bathrooms, kitchens, and laundries are good places for hygrometers.
