A building must be durable. When Europeans discuss an "older home," they are referring to a home which is 300-500 years old. In many areas of Dallas-Fort Worth, a home will not endure 30 or 40 years without falling into extreme disrepair.
Other builders, developers, and potential home owners, happily tear down a home only 50-60 years of age, i.e. Highland Park or Lakewood area of Dallas, rather than renovate an existing home.
Environmental Impact
Another segment of sustainability is the environmental impact of buildings.
