These communities are is on hold waiting for the City of Red Oak to build a road to the property. There is no timeline on that road from the city at this time.

In the meantime, there are other ecohousing communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which own or are in the process of acquiring land, including Wildflower Village (Duncanville), White Rock Crossing (East Dallas), Eagle Mountain Lake Cohousing (Azle), and one organizing for a rural community east or northeast of McKinney. Please check them out, visit them, and join one of the fantastic groups already forming. |

Located at the junction of Waxahachie and Red Oak in Ellis County, this truly green village will consist of seven communities. Each community will feature 30-40 moderately priced and energy-efficient homes built around their own community house in the concept of a village green. In addition to open space in each community, many of the total 75 acres of Hidden Lake Village, as well as Hidden Lake itself, will be placed in a conservation easement for all residents to use and enjoy. Since 1992, a growing number of North Americans have built communities which balance interaction and community with privacy and independence. These projects are governed by residents and create a community of friends and neighbors, something that is missing in the lives of many Texans. The communities are safe, environment-conscious, and people-friendly havens from the turmoil of the city. Children can be children here--and so can adults..... As planned, some of the communities are retirement communities only; some communities are intergenerational, family communities, including families, empty-nesters, retirees, singles and single parents of all ages. Each community is self-governed with its own community house. Hidden Lake Village is a perfect situation for families who want grandparents nearby. It is a child-friendly neighborhood. There is nothing like this in DFW. Hidden Lake Village is brought to you by forward-thinking, green builders AndersonSargent. More information: Call metro 972 251-1532 or 817 545-0140. |
