Green-built, open space, energy-efficient, and a conservation easement for Hidden Lake are only a few of the earth-friendly features.

Earth-Friendly
Hidden Lake Village

Hidden Lake Village is definitely earth friendly. A few other "green" words fit this ecovillage such as sustainable, environment friendly, organic, energy-efficient, conserving, and more.

Hidden Lake and the creek which feeds the lake are included in a conservation easement. The vegetation and water along the creek/lake shores provide habitats for wildlife and are a source of enjoyment for all residents.

Much of the open space is preserved with clustered housing and parking.

Passive solar designs, energy-efficient structures, and even some alternative energy sources are included in the village.

Living in communities provides more opportunities to "reduce, reuse, and recycle."

Open space is available for organic gardening, both for food and for beauty.

Rainwater collection and use saves city water supplies and diminishes water runoff.

Many possessions, such as tools, are shared resulting in fewer materials and less energy used in production.

Residences are small-to-medium in size requiring fewer materials and resources to build and maintain.
