New: Wildflower Village

Retirement cohousing is an idea whose time has come full circle. It is a new way to build an old-style neighborhood.

The idea is to recreate a time when neighbors shared their happy and sad times, meals, and leisure activities. A time when Americans looked to their neighborhoods for companions and helping hands.

If you agree, you probably want to buy a retirement home in a senior cohousing community?

Unfortunately, that is easier said than done.

One reason is there are not many actual senior cohousing projects to join at this time.

They are new to America, although there are many in Europe, particularly in Denmark where cohousing originated.

There are multiple start-up groups who hope to build senior cohousing "some day." Unfortunately, it seems to be rare for a cohousing group to reach the building stage. One wonders if the journey becomes more important than the destination for some groups.

Seniors have moved in RetirementSpirit into cohousing at Abingdon, VA and Glacier Circle in Davis, CA.

So where can you find senior cohousing? Start here.
