Healthy Fare & Vegetarian Friendly: The Metroplex |
|
Slim pickin's for vegetarians in South Dallas and south of Dallas. The one vegetarian restaurant went out-of-business. |
Although these are not the best places to
eat vegetarian food, they are metroplex wide if you get caught in a bind
or with a bunch of died-in-the-wool flesh eaters.
On the Border generally serves up a sad bunch of unhealthy vitals but they do a good job of the portobello mushroom fajitas. The sliced mushrooms are served on a bed of grilled veggies and onions. Management swore the black beans had no animal fat--not so the refried beans or the rice, though. Mexican H $-$$ Chili's is far from healthy but you can find a black bean vegetarian burger (not vegan) here. Eclectic H $-$$ Souper Salad Salad bar, soup, baked potato spot. They have five plant-based soups. Unfortunately, you can't count on them offering at least one each day. Plant-based soups are butterbean, vegetarian vegetable, vegetable lentils, mushroom barley, and, minestrone. Call ahead and go over only if one soup is plant-based that day. I have eaten enough gritty food here to make me worry about cleanliness. Salad bar H $ Disclaimer: Remarks are only the opinions of the

accurate. We suggest you verify lard, eggs, fish sauce, and the like before you
order because information we were given could be mistaken. Also, be aware that most
grilled items share the grill with meat and are contaminated. |
